Details
Bosc is a classic winter pear with a flavour and texture all of its own. The flesh is firm, dense, and smooth, with a sweet, honeyed taste and a subtle spice warmth that sets it apart from softer varieties.Unlike many pears, Bosc holds its shape beautifully when cooked, which makes it the pear of choice for baking, poaching, and roasting, and it is excellent eaten fresh.
Bosc pears ripen from the inside out, so the easiest way to check if yours is ready is to press gently near the stem – a little give means it’s good to go. They’re delicious sliced into a salad, paired with cheese, baked into a tart, or simply eaten on their own.
Approximately 4 pears per kilogram.
